Sarasvati Comensal Shrimp

Sarasvati Comensal Shrimp
(Periclimenes sarasvati)

Anemones are one of the best places to look for macro subjects. This little shrimp is around 3cm long, and almost completely transparent (which does not make it the easiest photography subject...). The image shows excellent detail: the internal organs, the hairs in the legs, the texture of the antennae.

There seems to be a lot of confusion between this species (Periclimenes Sarasvati) and another one, Periclimenes Holthuisi. No wonder: both are identical, but the spots of Holthuisi are brownish, whilst the spots of Sarasvati are purplish. Knowing this will not change your life forever but it is interesting nonetheless...
