Food Chain

The same scene of a Giraffe (Giraffa camelopardalis) calf suckling, but from another more intimate angle. Note also the little fella that is feeding on the parasites of the younger giraffe's ear... This is the true food chain.

These are Thornicroft Giraffes, endemic to the Luangwa Valley, in Zambia. There are eight subespecies of giraffe, including the Masai, the Reticulated, the Rothschild, or the Southern. The main differences are in size, colour and the shapes of the pattern.
