In hot pursuit

Wild Dogs, like hedge funds (!), hunt in packs. In Botswana I stayed once with a pack for several hours one afternoon, and had the privilege of witnessing a full hunt, from the exciting beginning to the sad end. When they are in pursuit of a prey - a male impala in this case - they split so that they cover more ground. Some of them run after the impala, and some stay behind, ready to cut the impala retreat. The ones that ran after the impala will do everything the cyan to guide the antelope the the jaws of their rear colleagues. The alpha male, pictured here will lead the hunt.
