Lion feeding at night

A feeding lion is always unsettling. A feeding lion at night is VERY unsettling - particularly if it is 2 meters away. Every crunch, rip and growl made me think that I might have an ancestor that met his end in the same way as the poor giraffe in this shoot... The fear of the nocturnal predator is difficult to explain, but it is ancestral, deeply ingrained in our genes...

Un león devorando una presa siempre da un poco de miedo. Un león devorando una presa por la noche da MUCHO miedo... especialmente si está a dos metros de tí. Cada crujido de huesos, cada gruñido, me recordaba que probablemente tengo un ancestro que encontró su fin de la misma manera que la pobre jirafa de la imagen. El miedo al depredador nocturno es difícil de explicar, pero es ancestral, profundamente grabado en nuestros genes...
