Leopard Seals
(Hydrurga leptonyx)
Leopard Seals are, together with the Orca Whales, the apex predators in Antarctica. A very large seal, measuring up to 3.5 meters, is the nemesis of Crabeater Seals. It has been calculated that they kill and eat up to 80% of Crabeater's pups.
Las Focas Leopardo son, junto con las Orcas, el depredador máximo en la Antártida. De gran tamaño - miden hasta 3.5 metros - estas focas son la maxima amenaza de las focas cangrejeras: se estima que acaban con hasta el 80% de sus crías.
