Candy Crab

The Candy Crab (Hoplophrys oatesii) is a small species of spider crab, which hides among polyps of soft corals (Dendronepthya sp). Their body colour ranges from white, pink, yellow to red depending on the colour or its host. It camouflages itself by attaching soft coral polyps onto its carapace. They are translucent with coloured and white patterns, and their body colour ranges from white, pink, yellow to red depending on the colour or its soft coral host as they mimick it. Their body size is about 1,5 cm.

El cangrejo chuche (Hoplophrys oatesii) es un especie de cangrejo araña, que se esconde entre los pólipos de coral blando, o coral árbol (Dendronepthya). Son traslúcidos, con rayas blancas, y pueden ser de color blanco, rosa, amarillo o rojo, dependiendo del color del coral en el que se ocultan. Mejoran su camuflaje pegándose pólipos vivos a su caparazón. Miden en torno a 1.5cm.
