Komodo Dragon
Komodo Dragons (Varanus Komodensis) are truly imposing: not only these unbelievable beasts can grow to 3 metres long and weigh up to 70 kg - they are also very effective predators. Their saliva has highly toxic bacteria and just one bite will be enough for the victim to die a slow death by blood poisoning. This is how they can hunt deer and buffalo, their preferred prey. Komodo Dragons are also known to have killed humans.
The dragons are endemic to a small number of islands in east Indonesia, including Komodo, Rinca and Flores.
IUCN: Vulnerable
